King County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant on the residence of a 20-year-old man living in Maple Valley who is alleged of have rapped a Covington woman Sept. 30.
The search warrant was served at about noon Oct. 2 in the 21600 block of 271st Street.
The Kent Regional Fire Authority reported a woman died in a house fire in Covington today, Oct. 4 in the 16600 block of southeast 279th.
According to Capt. Kyle Ohashi, spokesman for the fire authority, the 911 call came in about noon from the woman’s husband.

Metal thieves have hit several Kent valley businesses recently stealing brass fire department connections. These connections are located next to or on the exterior of a building and allow the fire department to boost the pressure in fire sprinkler systems or provide water to fire hoses inside multistory buildings. Many of the buildings with the connections are apartment complexes and senior housing. None of these high occupancy buildings have been affected so far.
Mountain View Fire and Rescue responded to a call where a 46-year-old man fell from a horse that was approximately 17 hands or 68 inches tall. The man fell flat on his back and had severe pain.

There will be a purple glow in Covington and across the country this month as the Purple Lights Night campaign continues to grow.
This will mark the fourth year of the campaign, which began humbly enough with the sale of a few dozen purple light bulbs, and a single tree in front of City Hall strung with purple lights.
