Woman found dead at home fire in Covington | Kent Regional Fire Authority

The Kent Regional Fire Authority reported a woman died in a house fire in Covington today, Oct. 4 in the 16600 block of southeast 279th. According to Capt. Kyle Ohashi, spokesman for the fire authority, the 911 call came in about noon from the woman's husband.

According to Capt. Kyle Ohashi, spokesman for the fire authority, the 911 call came in about noon from the woman’s husband.

Ohashi said the husband had gone down the second story hallway of their home to check on his wife when he found smoke and called 911.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they did not initially see any smoke, but the husband told them his wife was inside.

The firefighters went into the residence to the second floor where they found heavy smoke and the fire was contained to one room.

The firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but found the woman deceased.

Ohashi said cause of death will be determined by the King County Medical Examiner.
