As the general election results rolled in Tuesday night, Nov. 2, it became clear there will be some shifts in the political winds locally and nationally.
Jay Rodne and Glenn Anderson appear to win re-election from the 5th in the state house of representatives as does Pat Sullivan from the 47th but Joe Fain has a lead over Sen. Claudia Kauffman and Mark Hargrove is defeating Rep. Geoff Simpson in the first round of returns tonight.

An officer noticed a subject walking along Maple Valley Highway. When the person was contacted, it appeared the subject was intoxicated and stoned. The person had marijuana on them and was also cited as a minor in possession.

The city of Covington in June heard requests from a small business owner about the high cost of displaying temporary banners to boost business. The city responded by waiving temporary banner permit fees to help businesses get more from their advertising. Due to the continued voice of the small businesses in the community, the city of Covington is extending the temporary banner display time frame from 30 days to 90 days.

ISHING INJURY: A 40-year-old man was hit in the face with a fishing weight near his right eye. Emergency medical personnel arrive to find the man as standing with swelling and redness near his eye. The man’s son took him to a nearby hospital.
