Covington police officers, King County Sheriff’s deputies and other emergency personnel responding to an alleged domestic violence incident in the Timberlane development in Covington today, Nov. 8.
The suspect is in custody.

A stove top grease fire displaced two families from a Kent Easthill Apartment complex earlier today. At 2:45 p.m. Kent Fire Department emergency units were dispatched to the 22400 block of the Benson Road Southeast for a stove top grease fire which was spreading rapidly up the walls and into the cabinets according to the caller.
It’s the time of year again for Munch Madness, Kentwood’s annual canned food drive.
When it first started in 2008, the goal was to raise 10,000 pounds. Students and their families had donated nearly 30,000 pounds.
This year, Kentwood students encourage members of the community to join in
on the giving.
Emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle accident on the Covington Sawyer Road about 12:30 p.m. The first units on scene found two vehicles on the side of the road with minor damage and no airbags were deployed.
The decision about hospital beds requested by Valley Medical Center, Auburn Regional Medical Center and MultiCare will not be released by the state Department of Health Monday, Nov. 8, as was expected.
According to an e-mail from Mark Thomas, an analyst for the department’s certificate of need program, the decision has been delayed until the work can be completed. No deadline for the decision has been given.

At 7:49 a.m. firefighters were dispatched to a residential fire. Upon arrival firefighters found a small fire in the kitchen of the residence that the homeowner was able to keep in check using water. Firefighters used a pressurized water extinguisher to put it out and the fire was confined to the kitchen area. No injuries were reported. Electrical failure in a light fixture was determined to be the cause. Damage was estimated at $8,000.
I took my 13-year-old daughter shopping for jeans yesterday. She has grown 4 inches this past year and it seems we have been shopping for jeans every three months or so.
A vehicle was stopped by an officer for a traffic violation in the 31100 block of 3rd Avenue. The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle driven by a man. Through investigation and use of the narcotics K9, approximately 1 gram of marijuana and several pieces of drug paraphernalia were found on the driver. The man was issued a criminal citation and released
