Kitchen fire causes about $8,000 of damage to home | Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety

At 7:49 a.m. firefighters were dispatched to a residential fire. Upon arrival firefighters found a small fire in the kitchen of the residence that the homeowner was able to keep in check using water. Firefighters used a pressurized water extinguisher to put it out and the fire was confined to the kitchen area. No injuries were reported. Electrical failure in a light fixture was determined to be the cause. Damage was estimated at $8,000.

  • HOME FIRE: 29400 block of SE 208th Street. At 7:49 a.m. firefighters were dispatched to a residential fire. Upon arrival firefighters found a small fire in the kitchen of the residence that the homeowner was able to keep in check using water. Firefighters used a pressurized water extinguisher to put it out and the fire was confined to the kitchen area. No injuries were reported.   • APARTMENT FIRE: 21900 block of SE Wax Road. Firefighters were dispatched at 11:33 p.m. to an apartment building fire. An exterior porch fire was already out when firefighters arrived. Alert neighbors used portable fire extinguishers to extinguish the fire before it had a chance to get out of control. Firefighters ensured the fire had not extended into the structure and no one was injured. The cause of the fire was from the improper disposal of smoking materials. Damage was estimated at $13,000.
