The Valley Medical Board of Commissioners continued riding a roiling wave of discord Oct. 4 that has spanned three meetings.
The five commissioners and staff sparred over the statements made during the two earlier meetings.
The current contention has centered on Resolution 929, the 2010 incentive and goals program for the executive and management teams at Valley.

Toward Responsible Development filed a land use petition act or LUPA appeal in King County Superior Court against the two YarrowBay master planned developments in Black Diamond, Lawson Hills and The Villages.
Superior court Judge Cheryl Carey has been assigned to the case. The court date for the appeal is March 21, 2011. The attorney who filed the document for the petitioners was David Bricklin of the Seattle firm Bricklin and Newman.

Phillip Douglas Baldwin who was charged with the Sept. 30 rape of a woman in Covington has been charged with a second count of attempted rape by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s office for a Sept. 22 assault in Ballard.

The closing day of the Maple Valley Farmers Market featured doughnut art for kids and it hit the sugar mark. George’s Bakery of North Bend donated the doughnuts.
Rockridge Cider of Enumclaw donated cases of apple cider for the final day of the second season of the Maple Valley Farmers’ Market.
The 17 weeks of the market featured a wide variety of vendors and entertainment.

It was a night of dads and kids at Covington Elementary Tuesday for the kick off of the WATCH D.O.G.S. program.
The acronym stands for “Dads of Great Students” and it is part of a national program promoting education and family involvement with fathers and father figures.
Covington Elementary principal, Miles Erdly, brought the program to the school.

A 20-year-old man, Phillip Douglas Baldwin, who allegedly committed a rape in the Covington area Sept. 30 was arrested Oct. 2 and charged Wednesday by the King County Prosecutor with second degree rape.
Baldwin remains in custody in the King County jail on $750,000 bail.
His arraignment hearing is scheduled for Oct. 18.

King County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant on the residence of a 20-year-old man living in Maple Valley who is alleged of have rapped a Covington woman Sept. 30.
The search warrant was served at about noon Oct. 2 in the 21600 block of 271st Street.

The Kent Regional Fire Authority reported a woman died in a house fire in Covington today, Oct. 4 in the 16600 block of southeast 279th.
According to Capt. Kyle Ohashi, spokesman for the fire authority, the 911 call came in about noon from the woman’s husband.

After nearly two years of work, debate, cajoling and public testimony, the Covington City Council unanimously approved the new downtown zoning and design regulations Tuesday. The ordinance sets in motion the future vision for the downtown and town center.
“This is a city of Covington celebration,” Councilman Jim Scott said. “And it is great to be part of it.”

Coach Jason Johnson reported the Bears defeated Kent-Meridian 6-0 Tuesday at French Field, which gives the Bears a 4-0 record. It’s hard to beat perfect.
