Kent Fire crews were dispatched to the Waterford Apartments, just north of downtown Kent, at 8:31 p.m. Tuesday. On their arrival crews found smoke and flames from the top floor of the three story apartment building and upgraded the call to a “working fire” or confirmed fire.

The Black Diamond Weekend of Sports and Fitness at Nolte State Park was a two festival of running, swimming and bicycling.
During the morning commute Sept. 30 an off duty trooper observed an erratically driven BMW passenger car in the northbound lanes of state Route 167 in Auburn. The off duty trooper reported the vehicle as he was certain the driver was impaired as he was watching him for over three miles drift in and out of his lane, driving on the shoulder and at times taking up two lanes of travel.
Parent and kid time too often comes down to adults telling children to clean up, turn off the television and do their homework while kids do their best to ignore instructions. When it’s time to “let kids just be kids,” why not join them and be a kid again yourself?
Mountain View Fire & Rescue / Black Diamond Fire Department calls for week ending Sept. 30.
There were three fire calls and eight emergency medical calls.

The city of Black Diamond hired a new city administrator, Leonard Smith, at the Thursday City Council meeting.
The city ended the contract with former City Administrator Gwendolyn Voelpel Sept. 25.
A 49-year-old Black Diamond man, James Ecret, is being sought by police for domestic violence felony harassment and cyber harassment. Police spokesman Sgt. Greg Goral said Ecret should be considered armed and dangerous.

The City Council will be considering approving the appointment of Leonard Smith to the position tonight (Thursday) at regular meeting.
