The Northwest Krush 16U fastpitch team has scheduled tryouts from 1-3 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Northwest Diamond Sports indoor facility at 239 W.Stewart, Puyallup, Wa.
The Kentwood and Kentridge high schools are participating a school spirit competition and there is both money and a trophy on the line.
The boys and girls basketball teams will square off Jan. 29 at the ShoWare Center in Kent, and the school with the most students attending the games will win $10,000 and the Fan Cup trophy.

But Auburn Riverside’s standout guard certainly finished with a flurry, scoring nine of her team-high 19 points in the final eight minutes, lifting the top-ranked Ravens to a thrilling 55-49 come-from-behind victory over No. 9 Kentwood in a South Puget Sound League North Division game.

Tahoma rolled up another South Puget Sound League 4A, North Division team victory Jan. 14 taking Kentlake to the mat 61-13.
After four seasons at the helm of the Kentlake High football program, coach Mike Shepard stepped down on Dec. 22.
Shepard, who had been an assistant with the program before taking over as coach, compiled a 14-26 overall record with Kentlake.
Tahoma’s gymnastic team had its best meet of the year Jan. 6 at Beamer High, finishing second with a team score of 156.80.
Beamer took first with 158.05 and Kentlake third with 146.75.
Senior Bri McKenney placed second all-around for the Bears with a score of 33.95.
Tahoma and Kentwood collided on the Conks wrestling mat on Jan. 7 and the Bears came home with a 38-16 team victory.
For Tahoma, Nick Bayer took the 189 pound class with a pin over Jim Hatfield at the 3 minute, 16 second mark of the match.
Everything has come together just right thus far in the pool for the Kentlake boys swim team.
With a pair of South Puget Sound League 4A, North Division meets remaining, the Falcons are looking to continue their success and hold onto an undefeated record.
The Tahoma boys swim team hosted Kent-Meridian Jan. 7 and the Bears continued to show their strength in the water.
