The Black Diamond Police Department responded to a call Monday about a possible grenade in the Cedarbrook Mobile Home Park at 31108 3rd Ave.
The department received a call that a grenade was found Sunday where a trailer had been located. The trailer had been moved recently.
Tahoma High health and fitness teacher Tracy Krause was selected to serve on a committee that is working to review and revise the current standards that are the basis for National Board Certification in that field.
The Covington Chamber of Commerce honored Juliet Perry with its 14th Annual Education Volunteer of the Year Award.

The House of Representatives announced yesterday at its hearing for the state capital construction budget that the Covington area is set to receive over $1.28 million in funding for three key outdoor recreation and wildlife protection projects. Cathleen Robertson answered a 911 call Feb. 1 from Maple Valley resident Mike Zahajko reporting that Sheila Zahajko, his 46-year-old wife, was experiencing a medical emergency and had collapsed, according to a media release from Valley Communications Center.
As ballots arrive in mailboxes this week for the Tahoma School District’s construction bond measure, officials are working hard to get information out to voters, as the April 26 election looms.
Kevin Patterson, the district’s spokesman, said the board of directors and administrative staff understand why there may be folks who live in the Tahoma boundaries that are concerned about the bond measure.

Officers were dispatched to the 32300 block of 3rd Avenue for a welfare check on a man. Upon arrival officers made contact with the complainant and the male subject, who was obviously extremely intoxicated. The man told the officer he was seeing people in his car that was parked in front of his residence.

Troy Allen Hewitt pleaded not guilty in superior court today to the charge of second degree murder and first degree assault in stabbing death of 27-year-old James Reed III and wounding of Reed’s 49-year-old father at the Red Dog Saloon March 20.
The 40-year-old Hewitt from Maple Valley is scheduled to return to court May 2. He is in custody on a $1 million bail.
