Down a quiet gravel road just outside the Covington city limits Elinor Maroney makes ceramic art.
In a downstairs studio she throws clay onto a pottery wheel, churning out three pieces in less than 10 minutes, explaining how she forms the clay from a lump into something that can eventually be a functional bowl, cup or other item.

At about 1:30 p.m. Thursday our clinic at Hacienda San Francisco, about four hours northeast of San Ramon, Nicaragua was humming right along. The triage interviewers were moving patients nicely through the height and weight stations and the pharmacy was filling orders quickly. Outside, the dental team taught groups of kids how to brush their teeth with their new tooth brushes and delighted watching the ninos (children) each receive a toy. We weren’t yet ready to set up the shoes and clothing distribution area, so I decided to take a walk up to the medical providers area where patients were being treated by Corner of Love docs and nurse practitioners.

A trio of Tahoma High students came home from the Mu Alpha Theta convention July 18-24 in Knoxville, Tenn., with some serious hardware as well as having earned national math rankings.
Juniors Sean Messenger and Zach Overhauser along with sophomore Anthony Yun from Tahoma participated at the convention against teams from 48 other high schools and 530 competitors from across the country on topics like geometry and calculus.
