More than 2,000 vehicles rolled into Pacific Raceways leaving a trailer full of new toys and over $3,800 in cash on Sunday Dec. 4 as part of the 2011 NW Toy Run to benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
Kent’s Driven Products provided the trailer, which doubled as Santa’s sleigh, transporting the collected toys to the Marine Corps for distribution.
John Derringer, president of Driven Products, reported that 16.5 pallets of toys were unloaded Sunday night and will find their way to deserving children.
The cash raised was donated as was Pacific Raceways use of its facility and staff to help with the event according to Allan Kettle, NW Toy Run organizer.
Kettle estimated that 6,000 people attended the event donating more than $109,000 in new toys, making it the largest ever since its inception in 2004.
