Auburn’s ground game just could not be contained by Kentlake as the Trojans three-pronged running attack of Kieo Buchanan, Ercle Terrell and William Jefferies racked up yardage en route to a 60-38 win over the Falcons.

Jordan Axelson started things off for Kentlake with a 21-yard touchdown run after the Falcons recovered a squib kick on the opening kickoff to set up deep inside Trojan territory.

Auburn answered two series later when Ercle Terrell capped a 63-yard drive with a 23 yard touchdown run with 5 minutes, 38 seconds left in the first quarter.

Jefferies hustled 52 yards on the first play from scrimmage in the second quarter to make it 21-6 Auburn with 3:51 left in the first half.

Kentlake quarterback Tino Wells responded with a 52 yard touchdown run of his own but the two point conversion failed. Auburn’s lead was cut to 27-12.

Buchanan then took the hand off on the first play from scrimmage for Auburn on its ensuing drive and took it 62 yards to the house to put the Trojans up 34-12 with 2:47 left in the first half.

A promising start to the second half cut the Auburn lead to eight when Daunston Kaunda scored for Kentlake on its opening drive of the third quarter.

Kaunda scored again for Kentlake after an Auburn fumble on the Trojans 22 yard line. The Falcons punched in the two-point conversion but then Buchanan took the ensuing kickoff from his own 14 to stretch the lead back out to 41-26 with 5:06 left in the third quarter.

Auburn never let Kentlake get any closer.

With the win, Auburn improved to 4-1 in league play while Kentlake dropped to 0-5.
