As the region thaws out and the snow melts away, residents in Covington and Maple Valley didn’t experience any major accidents related to the weather.
Sgt. John Urquhart, spokesman for the King County Sheriff’s Office, said that while deputies were busy early in the week, “I am not aware of any particular calls that were especially noteworthy,” he said in an e-mail interview.

Well, part of it at least, now that an array of solar panels have been installed on the roof of the high school.
Having the panels installed is another piece of the Tahoma School District’s sustainability curriculum it has been integrating into its coursework from grade school through high school the past two years.

Waste Management reported garbage haulers did not pick up residential and commercial garbage and yard waste Tuesday and Wednesday in and around Maple Valley because of the snow and ice on the roads.
The plan for the next pickup is Friday. Haulers will not be working on Thanksgiving.

STUMBLING DRUNK: Southeast Kent Kangley Road. Three drivers called 911 when a drunk man was seen stumbling in the road. According to the police report, “he was reportedly creating a hazard to himself and traffic.” The office located the man, took him into protective custody until a private ambulance could transport the man to a hospital.
