Car hits fallen tree on Auburn-Black Diamond Road trapping driver Dec. 18 | Mountain View Fire and Rescue/Black Diamond Fire Department
Car hits fallen tree on Auburn-Black Diamond Road...
December 25, 2010 7:16 pm

Mountain View Fire and Rescue responded to a car that ran into a tree on the Auburn-Black Diamond Road near state Route 18 at about 4 a.m. Once the crews arrived on scene it appeared a tree had fallen across the road due to the high winds and a PT Cruiser was unable to stop so the car ran into the tree. The driver was trapped in the car because the tree had crushed the windshield, hood, door and roof of the car. The tree was lying across some power lines on the opposite side of the road so crews were concerned about possible electrical dangers. Once the fire personnel began assessing the patient they found the driver had been trapped for approximately 30 minutes before help arrived to call 911. The driver was transported to the hospital after paramedics did an evaluation, Puget Sound Energy cut the tree off the roadway, and the scene was cleared a few hours later. The accident is still under investigation.
