The Memorial Day program at Tahoma National Cemetery commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.
John Sessions’ Historic Flight Foundation at Paine Field sent two WWII era aircraft, a P-51 Mustang and a T-6 Texan, for the 1 p.m. flyover to begin the ceremony. Sessions originally planned for a B-25 for the flyover, but the aircraft, named Grumpy, developed a problem and the foundation sent the Mustang and the Texan.
Featured speakers were former First Gentleman Mike Gregoire who served as platoon leader and convoy commander with the Delta Express in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta.
The guest speaker was state Sen. Joe Fain, R-Auburn, of the Legislative 47th District.
The Kentlake High band directed by Chuck Stowell performed at the ceremony.
