Executive, Mayor Murray to bring together wide range of experts to confront region’s heroin epidemic
King County Executive Dow Constantine and Seattle Mayor Ed Murray on Tuesday will announce a task force to confront the heroin and prescription opiate epidemic that has become increasingly lethal across the region. The task force will include a wide range of experts from public health, human services, law enforcement, hospitals, the University of Washington, treatment providers and other disciplines.
Members of the task force — including Public Health Officer Jeff Duchin, MD, and Dr. Caleb Banta-Green, an epidemiologist at the University of Washington — will be available to answer questions. They’ll be joined by King County Sheriff John Urquhart and Auburn Mayor Nancy Backus.
