Winter is a magical time to visit Lake Wilderness Arboretum. Trees that have lost their leaves reveal unique vistas unseen during other seasons, and the low sun lights the towering pines in a dramatic glow. A few members of the Lake Wilderness Foundation Board explain why.
“The Arboretum gives people the opportunity to enjoy nature in the middle of suburbia,” says Criss Vefik, and Debbie Fuchs says, “The Arboretum is so accessible. The parking and admission are free, there are several entrances from the trail, road or park, and dogs are welcome.”
“The Arboretum is a wonderful asset to the community and deserves to be supported,” says Diane Barnes. “Visitors can savor peace and solitude, and admire the extensive plantings and natural surroundings.”
In winter, get lost in quiet thought while walking through the gardens and Forest trails. Visitors are welcome every day from dawn until dusk. The Arboretum is open throughout winter –and every day of the year- and children love it.
“An Arboretum filled with the laughter of children is a very special place, and indeed a gift to all those who visit,” says Sarah Schumacher.
