KentHOPE’s second fundraising banquet will be held at New Beginnings Christian Fellowship at 6 p.m. on Nov. 1. The event will center on sharing stories of transformation and the vision of establishing a permanent center in Kent, a place where people will have around-the-clock access to those resources necessary to move toward stable housing and a more secure future. KentHOPE’s stated mission is to build community by providing stable pathways out of homelessness while caring for body, mind and spirit.
KentHOPE Board Chair Pat Gray said in a press release the banquet dinner will showcase accomplishments and bring attention to the three years of effort to establish a 24-hour KentHOPE Resource Center and shelter. The keynote speaker will be Sheila Sebron, a parent and veteran who will share her personal story and perspective. Sebron currently serves on the Governing Board of the Committee to End Homelessness.
Julie Kimball and her family will also provide bluegrass musical accompaniment.KentHOPE’s Day Center, a day shelter for homeless women and children, is located at 9009 Canyon Drive in Kent.
In its first eight months of operation, the KentHOPE Women and Children’s Day Center has connected 17 homeless women with housing and an additional 15 have enlisted in recovery programs which include housing. An average of 21 women access services and an average of 41 meals are provided each day.
Reservations are required to attend the event. The stated goal is to raise $90,000.
