According to a news report from the Tacoma News Tribune, John Alan Carter, a suspect in a July 27 rape in Covington, has been arrested in near Florence, Ore.
The 51-year-old Carter is alleged to have lured a woman, whom he had known for several years, to a house in Covington July 27. He sexually assaulted her at knifepoint over several hours, and then forced her to drive to a 7-Eleven in Renton and withdraw money from her bank account at an ATM.
She refused to get back in the car and he fled in her vehicle.
Covington Police Chief Kevin Klason reported yesterday, Aug. 10, the car has been found in southern Oregon.
The chief said a nation-wide search warrant had been issued for Carter. Klason said Carter is wanted on a “variety of charges.”
