For the second straight day, snow and poor driving conditions have wiped out the prep basketball schedule for schools in the Tahoma and Kent School districts.

Eighth-ranked Kentridge was slated to play host to No. 9 Kentwood at 7:30 tonight in a much-anticipated showdown between two of the South Puget Sound League’s top boys basketball teams, but due to the recent weather, the game – along with the rest of the SPSL schedule – has been cancelled.

Other local boys basketball games that were cancelled include: Kentlake at Kent-Meridian; Jefferson at Federal Way and Auburn at Tahoma.

In girls basketball, cancelled games include: Kentridge at Kentwood; Kent-Meridian at Kentlake; Federal Way at Jefferson and Tahoma at Auburn.

A date for when the games may be played has not yet been decided.

In wrestling, Kentlake, Tahoma, Auburn and Auburn Mountainview were slated to compete in the Tri-State wrestling tournament in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho today and tomorrow.

The teams ran into the Spokane snowstorm on Thursday afternoon, but made were in good shape and in Coeur d’Alene Friday morning.

“We were prepared,” Tahoma coach Chris Feist said.
