Fall goes out, winter comes in with a shiver

More frigid weather, perhaps taking a turn for the worse, is expected for the first official day of winter Sunday.

In addition to the freezing conditions that brought snow and and ice this week, raising havoc for driving, closing schools and forcing some businesses and government offices to work with reduced hours or personnel, weather forecasts call for high wind in some areas, including the Cascade foothills areas.

The wind is expected Sunday. As they have much of this week, local and regional emergency-preparedness officials have advised the public to take weather-related precautions.
