Wins keep coming for Tahoma as it puts away Kentwood 10-8 | Baseball | Slide Show

By the end of the third Tahoma's lead was cut to 5-3 and after a quiet fourth inning the teams traded hits as the Bears held on for the win over the Conquerors, 10-8.

Taylor Jones tried to help himself out on Thursday afternoon.

Jones, who was pitching for Kentwood, launched a solo shot over the center field fence to score the Conquerors first run of the game after Tahoma jumped out to a 5-0 lead during the first two innings.

By the end of the third Tahoma’s lead was cut to 5-3 and after a quiet fourth inning the teams traded hits as the Bears held on for the win over the Conquerors, 10-8.

Jones finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI and the loss on the mound. Cash McGwire added a homerun for Kentwood on 2-for-4 hitting with a pair of RBIs.

Meanwhile, Tahoma’s No. 3 pitcher Spencer Hobson picked up the win. At the plate Reed Johnson led Tahoma going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Tahoma maintained its first place position in the South Puget Sound League North Division with the victory, improving its league record to 11-1, while Kentwood dropped to 6-4 and fifth place.

Next up for Tahoma is a 4 p.m. match up Saturday with Kentlake.

There are three games left after that in the regular season for Tahoma as it faces Kentridge on Tuesday, Auburn Riverside (which accounts for Tahoma’s only loss of the season), and finally Kentlake at home on April 29.
