After losing 16-0 to Rogers during its first game of the season, the Kentwood softball team beat Mount Rainier 8-4 Tuesday.

After losing 16-0 to Rogers during its first game of the season, the Kentwood softball team beat Mount Rainier 8-4 Tuesday.

Mount Rainier got out to an early 3-0 start but in the bottom of the first inning, the Conks struck back and scored three runs of its own.

With the game tied at 3 a piece, the Conks went up two in the second.

Scoreless for the next two innings, Kentwood added another three in the fifth. Taking the lead 8-3.

Mount Rainier scored one final run in the top of the seventh.

Kentwood scored its eight runs on seven hits.

Kentwood pitcher Lagi Palaita went all seven innings and gave up two hits while striking out nine.

The Conks host Todd Beamer at 4 p.m. Friday, March 25.

Kentlake

The Falcons hosted Todd Beamer Tuesday and lost 13-3.

Todd Beamer got off to an early 2-0 start but the Falcons answered back scoring a run of their own in the bottom of the first.

Down 2-1 after an inning, Todd Beamer added another two in the second.

The Falcons scored once more in the second. Now trailing 4-2.

The third inning was big for the Titans, scoring six runs.

Kentlake went scoreless until the fifth inning where it scored its final run of the game.

The Titans scored a run in three of the final four innings.

The Falcons scored its three runs on six hits.

Tahoma

The defending 4A state champions have started the season with a two game winning streak.

The Bears beat Bothell 15-2 March 16. And on March 18, Tahoma traveled to Enumclaw where it beat the Hornets 11-0.

Up next, weather permitting, is a league match up against Kentridge at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 24 at the Kent Service Club Ballfields on SE 288th Street.
