Trevor Larson from Tahoma named lacrosse player of the week, among others

The Washington State Chapter of US Lacrosse has named Seton Catholic freshman BJ Biquera, who plays for Columbia River High School (Vancouver, Wash.), Cian Peterson of Gonzaga Prep (Spokane), Sam Taaffe, a senior at Skyline High School (Sammamish), Ben Biggers, a senior at Bainbridge High School (Bainbridge Island), Joe Hawley, a senior at Klahowya Secondary School (Silverdale), Trevor Larson, a senior at Tahoma High School (Covington) and Cole Hofstrand, a junior at Shorecrest High School (Shoreline) as Washington state high school lacrosse players of the week for season-opening weeks March 21 – 27, 2016.

Central-South Conference

BJ Biquera, Freshman, Seton Catholic College Preparatory School (Plays for Columbia River High School, Vancouver, Wash.)

Freshman BJ Bisquera scored four goals as his Columbia River lacrosse squad edged Richland 15 – 13 in Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association action, Friday.  Bisquera, who attends Seton Catholic, finished the night with a season-high seven points including three assists for Columbia River’s first win of the spring.  On Saturday, he delivered four goals and one assist in Columbia River’s home win over Selah giving him 12 points (8g, 4a) for the week.

Eastern Conference

Cian Peterson, Senior, Gonzaga Prep (Spokane)

Cian Peterson racked up 10 points during the week including a four-goal one assist night on Tuesday as Gonzaga Prep rallied from a 3-2 deficit at the half to down Inland Empire rival Lewis & Clark 9 – 8. On Saturday Peterson delivered five goals to drive the Bullpups to a 13 – 5 boys lacrosse win over Idaho’s Sandpoint Lacrosse Club.

KingCo Conference

Sam Taaffe, Senior, Skyline High School (Sammamish)

Senior midfielder Sam Taaffe scored with 2:31 left in overtime to lift Skyline to its third win of the boys high school lacrosse season as the Spartans rallied for a 9 – 8 home victory over rival Eastlake, on Saturday.  Taaffe finished the night with two goals.

Metro Conference

Ben Biggers, Senior, Bainbridge High School (Bainbridge Island)

Ben Biggers had his best night of the spring delivering five goals as undefeated Bainbridge swept past O’Dea with a 10 – 9 overtime boys lacrosse win over the Fighting Irish on Tuesday.  Biggers finished the night with six points including a single assist.

Narrows/Olympic Conference

Joe Hawley, Senior, Klahowya Secondary School (Silverdale)

Joe Hawley continued to rack up points in the early stages of the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association season as the senior attackman led undefeated Klahowya to a 15 – 8 win over North Kitsap on Friday.  Hawley completed a seven-goal, three-assist night giving him 10 goals and 10 assists for the week following a three-goal, seven-assist performance in the Eagles’ win at Port Angeles on Tuesday.

SPSL Conference

Trevor Larson, Senior, Tahoma High School (Covington)

Trevor Larsen scored a career-high 11 points as Tahoma rallied with two six-goal quarters in the second half to down Peninsula 17 – 6 in boys high school lacrosse action on Saturday.  The senior attackman finished with six goals and five assists to lead the Bears to their third win of the spring. Along with four goals in the Bears win over Emerald Ridge on Tuesday, Larsen accumulated 15 points (10g, 5a) for the week.

Wesco/NW Conference

Cole Hofstrand, Junior, Shorecrest High School (Shoreline)

Shorecrest junior Cole Hofstrand scored with 1:17 left to halt a five-goal fourth quarter rally by Monroe giving the Highlanders a 9 – 8 boys home lacrosse win and preserving their undefeated record on Thursday. Hofstrand, who finished the night with two goals, also had a single goal on Tuesday in Shorecrest’s win over Burlington-Edison.
