Tahoma into semi-finals at South Puget Sound League tournament | Fastpitch Slide Show

Tahoma earns spot in SPSL fastpitch semi-final, Kentwood splits its games and Kentlake will take on Rogers in the other semi-final game on Friday.

Tahoma won both of its games as the no. 2 seed from the South Puget Sound League 4A North on Thursday while Kentwood split its games.

It was a close game for Tahoma who carried a 3-2 through to the bottom of the sixth when the bats got hot in the first contest against SPSL South foe Spanaway Lake.

The Bears scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth and put the Sentinels away 8-2.

Senior Katie Jo Myers started the inning off with a double, Kaila Wilkinson drove Myers in, followed by a Hayley Beckstrom single who then scored on a Shelby Carter double to left field.

Lisa Maulden smacked a triple into center field then Sammii Jimenez drove her in.

Jordan Walley followed that up with a walk and set up Kiley Dunn to pick up a pair of RBIs with a long single up the middle.

Tahoma faced Thomas Jefferson in the second game, making it the third time this season and second time in the past week the two teams have faced off, with Tahoma taking a 4-0 win to propel it into a semifinal match up at 4 p.m. Friday against Puyallup, the no. 1 seed out of the SPSL South.

Meanwhile, Kentwood dropped a 2-0 loss to Rogers, the no. 2 seed out the South before bouncing back and picking up a 6-2 victory over Todd Beamer.

Kentwood will take on Jefferson in a game at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Meanwhile, in the other semi-final at 4 p.m. Friday Kentlake will take on Rogers, which knocked off Kentridge 5-4 in a nine inning game Thursday night.
