Tahoma High graduate Ian Beckstrom will take the ice to play hockey with Utah State University’s club team this year after playing the past two season with the Seattle Totems Junior A Hockey club.
Beckstrom, who is listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, committed during the summer to play for the Aggies of Utah State.
After taking two years off from hockey, Becstrom realized he missed the sport, and returned to the ice to play for the Totems in 2011 with the goal to make the most of his last year of eligibility and play college hockey.
“I really appreciate the loyalty showed by both the owner and the Totems coaching staff,” Beckstrom said in a release. “They gave me the opportunity to come back and play after time away from the game and without that chance I would not be where I am today.”
During the 2011-2012 season with the Totems, Beckstrom played in 40 games, had 14 goals, 19 assists totaling 33 points for the team.
Utah State, which is located in Logan, Utah, competes in the ACHA Division II West Division and the Aggies have made several trips to the regionals and nationals in the past decade, according to information provided by the school.
