Tahoma’s boys soccer team’s season came to an end on May 16 when it took on Central Kitsap in the first round of the 4A state tournament and lost 7-2 on the road.

Bears head coach Jason Johnson explained in an email interview that the first round opponent was a tough one for his team.”We ran up against a very good team,” Johnson wrote. “They scored in the first three minutes and we played on our heels the rest of the way. It’s hard to take a moral victory from a 7-2 match, but we did score the last goal in the 75th minute, so my guys were fighting until the end.”

Still, it was a rough way to end the season, Johnson wrote.

Yet, Johnson said, it was a good spring on the pitch for the Tahoma boys soccer team.”Overall, I feel really good about the season,” he wrote. “They boys played really hard all season were able to accomplish some great things. We made the state tournament in back-to-back season and that hasn’t happened in the boys program for a very long time.”

Tahoma finished third, 11-4-1, in South Puget Sound League North play and went 12-6-1 overall on the season.

Eight players will return next year: a sophomore and seven juniors.
