Kentlake kept up its winning streak on the fastpitch diamond late last week while Tahoma bounced back from its loss on Tuesday.
Since the loss to the Bears on March 24, the Falcons have won 10 straight, including an 11-1 pounding of Federal Way on April 22 and a 12-7 rain-shortened victory over Kentwood on April 23.
For Kentlake, Erika Smyth went 2-3 at the plate and scored two runs, while Jessie Richardson went 3-4 with four RBIs in the game against Federal Way.
Playing against Kentwood was a slog as it rained almost the entire game with a stoppage to put Diamond Dry on the field.
Kentlake did most of its damage in the bottom of the third inning when the squad scored seven runs.
Nikole Weber pitched a complete game for the Falcons with five strike outs over five innings.
Brooke Evans, who started off the big third inning with a single to left field, drove in three runs for Kentlake on 2-3 hitting with a double while Hannah Sauget went 2-3 as well with a run scored.
Kentlake remained in first place in the South Puget Sound League 4A North through Monday afternoon standing at 15-1 overall and 11-1 in league.
Tahoma picked up a pair of wins after losing only its second game of the season and first in league earlier in the week at Kentlake.
On April 23, Tahoma squeaked by Auburn 3-2, with pitcher Sammii Jimenez throwing another complete game for the win and racking up five strike outs.
Katie Jo Myers and Alex Clyatt both went 2-3 for the Bears in the win on the road.
Tahoma’s bats were much hotter on April 24 at home against Auburn Riverside.
The Bears jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first and had no problem hanging on as the Ravens just couldn’t muster a response at the plate.
Jimenez pitched a complete game, putting her season record at 11-2, while going 3-3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs and a double.
Lisa Maulden added to the Bears offense by going 2-3 at the plate, driving in two runs and smacking a double.
Tahoma improved to 11-1 in league and 14-2 overall.
Kentlake travels to Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday, the second meeting of the season which the Falcons won at home, while Tahoma head to Kentwood.
With a handful of games to go, the Conquerors were 6-6 in league and 8-8 overall as of April 23, but Tahoma’s wins over Auburn and Auburn Riverside last week helped Kentwood’s efforts to get into the playoffs as both of those squads are now 2-8 in the SPSL North.
The Conks face Thomas Jefferson on Wednesday and Kentridge, which is in fourth place in the division ahead of Kentwood at 8-5 in league, on May 4 for the final game of the regular season.
