Spring may not quite be blooming yet, but high school spring sports is off and running.
Tahoma, Kentlake and Kentwood have a full slate of athletic activities including baseball, fastpitch, boys soccer, boys and girls track and girls tennis.
BASEBALL
Tahoma
The Bears return this season with a strong group of seniors, juniors and sophomores playing in the North Puget Sound League 4A Cascade Division.
Senior Conner Hargesheimer will be behind the plate for the Bears. Returning senior Henry Murphy will lock down shortstop and Connor Kiffer returns at second. Also listed at second is junior Stuart Nelson.
Coach Russ Hayden has three lefties and four right-handed pitchers listed on the roster.
The Bears beat Cascade 6-4 Saturday with Andrew Osterman, Jacob Bacon and Brandon Lewis pitching. The team’s home field this season is at the new Tahoma High School.
The Bears host Ballard at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Kentwood
The Conks come into this season with its sights set on the top trophy after taking second last year at the 4A boys state baseball championship
Kentwood brings back an experienced team with 11 seniors including catcher Shane McGuire, pitchers Dyson Johnson, Tyler Tan and third baseman and pitcher Matt Franceschina.
Despite the rain and wind, Kentwood played in a jamboree Saturday. The Conks played three innings losing to Liberty, 3-2 and beat West Seattle 3-0.
The Conks were scheduled to play Tahoma Wednesday and Thursday this week, after the press deadline.
At 1 p.m. Saturday the Conks host South Kitsap.
Kentlake
The Falcons boys baseball team reached the second round of the district tournament last season. This season hopes are higher.
Kentlake has seven seniors on the roster, six juniors and a sophomore.
Right-hander Tyson Wenger returns to the mound for the Falcons and Shane Nagel, also a right handed pitcher will throw, cover first and play in the outfield.
Senior Caleb Jaime will work behind the plate and on the mound.
Kentlake was scheduled to play Hazen Thursday past the press deadline.
The Falcons are scheduled to host Todd Beamer at 4 p.m. Friday, today.
FASTPITCH
Kentlake
The Falcons fastpitch team is lined up and ready to make a run at the top spot in the league, district and state.
A solid core of seven seniors are on the roster with four juniors and one sophomore.
Senior pitcher Allyson Overall returns to the rubber with catcher Ashley Hendrickson.
Outfielder and all-around athlete Jada Leonard, who just finished playing in the state girls basketball tournament, is playing for the Falcons.
Kentlake travels to Decatur for a 4 p.m. game Friday, today.
Tahoma
The Bears made the first round of the state tournament in 2016 and the goal this season will be to move on and up.
Tahoma will be playing on the new Tahoma High field.
The Bears played Todd Beamer Tuesday and Auburn Riverside Wednesday past the press deadline.
Tahoma will host Enumclaw at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Kentwood
The Conk girls fastpitch team plays in the North Puget Sound League 4A Cascade Division this season.

Kentwood will travel to Enumclaw for a 7 p.m. game Friday, today, against the Hornets.
SOCCER
Boys soccer kicks off this week.
Tahoma hosts Hazen at 7:30 p.m. Friday, today.
Kentlake and the Conks play each other at 7:30 p.m. Friday, today, at Kentwood.
TRACK AND FIELD
The Kentlake and Kentwood boys and girls teams will compete against each other at 3:30 p.m. March 30 at French Field.
Tahoma had a meet against Federal Way Thursday, past the press deadline. The Bears will travel to Auburn Memorial for a 3:30 p.m. meet against the Trojans March 30.
GIRLS TENNIS
The tennis season will begin if the rain decides to find a different place to fall.
The Falcon girls travel to Kentridge Friday, today, for a 3:30 p.m. match.
Kentwood travels to Kent-Meridian for a 3:30 p.m. Friday, today.
The Tahoma girls host Hazen at 3:30 p.m. Friday, today.
