From the Sideline

“Chase only started swimming when he was 12 years old. Chase works hard year round swimming to continue to improve and get faster. Although being one of the better swimmers on the team, Chase’s work ethic never lags and is one of the most coachable athletes I have ever had. He makes a point of being the example in and out of the water. Chase dropped five seconds over the season in the 100 butterfly, broke the school record and qualified for state. He dropped eight seconds this season in the 200 freestyle and qualified for state. Chase continues to do things without being asked and is always doing more than is expected of him. At one point in the season, Chase saw an opposing coach setting up the pool for an away meet by themselves — a few minutes later I saw Chase helping this coach setup their pool for the meet. Chase Canning is an outstanding athlete by far but he is an even better person and sets the example for every athlete I coach.”
