Rainier Christian High School kicked off its second football season with a 36-14 loss to Taholah.

Rainier Christian High School kicked off its second football season with a 36-14 loss to Taholah.

The team will feature its first home game at 1 p.m. Sept. 24 at Kentlake High against Tulalip Heritage.

According to Jeff Evenson, athletic director for Rainier Christian, the team plays in the B-8 division.

“The smaller schools in the state play with eight aside,” he said.

Against Taholah, Rainier Christian went down 14-0 at the half.

The Rainier boys scored in the third on a drive that featured a 30-yard reverse by Jared Nelson and a fourth down pass completion for 25 yards from Cory Nelson to Eli Boyge.

The touchdown was scored by Kyle Clark.

Ben Littlefield also scored on a kick return.

Cory and Jared Nelson each rushed for more than 70 yards.

Sam Flynn had three sacks and David Helmer had an interception.

The Mustangs have played two games since the opener and scores from those games will be added to this story when available.
