Kentwood continued its defense of its girls soccer crown with a 2-0 victory over Jackson Wednesday night at French Field.
It’s been a month almost to the day since the last time Kentwood lost a match (a 2-1 defeat at the hands of a surging Kentridge squad) and with the victory improved to 17-1-1 overall.
Next up for Kentwood is a trip to the Sammamish Plateau where it faces perennial soccer power Skyline at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the state quarterfinals.
If the Conks win, they get the winner of Saturday’s 7 p.m. match up which has Central Valley traveling to Tahoma.
Tahoma got its first round of state win against Gonzaga Prep of Spokane. The Bears beat the Bullpups 2-1 in a shootout.
If Tahoma and Kentwood both win on Saturday, they will tentatively face each other on Friday, Nov. 18 in the state semi-final. The two teams squared off last year in the title match with the Conks winning in a shootout.
