During the Seattle Chapter 50th annual Scholar-Athlete Award Banquet on Feb. 27, Kentlake senior David Morasch won Lineman of the Year.

The award ceremony was held at CenturyLink Field where the focus is to acknowledge the accomplishments of high school football players in King County, according to a press release.

Morasch is the fourth Falcon to win this award. He follows in the footsteps of Taylor Firman in 2066, Trevor Thompson of 1999 and Jordan Connors in 1998.

Kentlake’s head coach Brett Thompson won this award in 1998 when he played at Auburn Riverside.

Morasch spent four years on varsity for the Falcons and was captain for two years.

So far, he has been accepted to Pacific Lutheran University where he would like to play for the Lutes. But he is also waiting on word back from the University of Washington and the University of California-Berkley.

When in college, Morasch plans on studying mechanical engineering.

“(David’s) strong leadership in athletics, his work ethic in the classroom, and his citizenship in the community have laid the foundation for success in college and beyond,” Thompson said when recommending Morasch to the National Football Foundation scholarship committee.

“I look forward to witnessing his continued success in all his pursuits,” Thompson added.
