Basketball is one piece of the picture of the Carly Stowell Foundation, which was started by Chuck and Elena Stowell, in honor of the memory of their daughter Carly who died suddenly of a heart arryhthmia in April 2007 while on a club basketball trip to North Carolina. Carly Stowell was a starting point guard on the Kentlake basketball team as a freshman and was also a talented musician.

The foundation strives to offer opportunities for young people to participate in athletics and music by offering organized teams, training classes in partnership with Emerald City Basketball Academy, as well as things such as the Summer Parade band which has marched in parades in local festivals including Covington Days, Kent Cornucopia Days and Renton River Days.

In addition to tryouts for athletes, the foundation is currently looking for qualified individuals to help develop athletes in the Jammin’ Volleyball and Jammin’ Basketball Programs. There are a handful of positions open: director of athletics, director of volleyball operations, as well as volleyball and basketball coaches and volleyball and basketball trainers.
