WEST CENTRAL DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY MEET

• WHAT: State-qualifying meet, also known as the Westside Classic.

• WHEN: Saturday.

• WHERE: American Lake Golf Course, Tacoma.

• TIME: Class 3A girls, 1 p.m.; Class 3A boys, 2:30 p.m.; Class 4A girls, 1:30 p.m.; Class 4A boys, 3 p.m. Racing begins at 10:30 a.m. with the Class 1B/2B girls.

• WHO ADVANCES: Class 4A — The top 6 teams and top 30 individuals in both the boys and girls races will advance to state. Class 3A — The top 8 teams and top 40 individuals in the girls race qualify for state. The top 7 teams and top 35 individuals in the boys race will qualify.

• DEFENDING CHAMPIONS: 4A boys team — Gig Harbor 60 points. 4A girls team — Gig Harbor 59. 4A boys individual — Miles Unterreiner, Gig Harbor, 15:14.7 (graduated). 4A girls individual — Kayla Evans, Bellarmine, 18:12.2 (graduated). 3A boys team — Camas 68. 3A boys individual — Julian-Blake Cowan, Auburn Riverside, 15:37.6 (running in 4A this season). 3A girls team — Capital 63. 3A girls individual — Amanda Wright, Capital, 19:18.6 (graduated).

• WHAT’S NEXT: The state meet is next Saturday, Nov. 8, at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco. Racing begins at 10 a.m. (wheelchair race at 9:30 a.m.). For local competitors, the Class 3A girls race is at 12:30 p.m.; the 4A girls go at 1 p.m.; the 3A boys at 2 p.m.; and the 4A boys at 2:30 p.m.
