Adam Galgano’s excitement drives summer tennis camp growth in its 11th year

The enthusiasm is evident in Adam Galgano’s voice.

Galgano, a physical education teacher at Lake Wilderness Elementary School, has a passion for tennis, whether it’s coaching, playing or simply watching from the sideline.

That excitement has reached a fever pitch each and every summer since 1999, when Galgano first began “Mr. G’s Tennis Camp.” It also helps explain Galgano’s current state of mind as the camp entered its 11th year when it began June 22.

“I never imagined this camp being as big as it is,” said Galgano, noting that the camp has grown from 67 players that first year to more than 300 last summer.

This summer, the assortment of tennis camps are being offered in age groups for kids between 5 and 7 years, 7 and 16 along with adult. Five different camps will be offered for children between the ages of 5 and 7. Other camps for kids between 5 and 7 will be offered June 29-July 2; July 13-16; July 27-30 and Aug. 10-13. There will be seven different camps for kids between 7 and 16.

Other camps for kids between the ages of 7 and 16 will be offered June 29-July 2; July 13-16; July 20-23; July 27-30; Aug. 3-6 and Aug. 10-13. The camp for adults will run July 20, 22, 27 and 29.

Galgano has been coaching tennis to all age and skill groups for more than 20 years.
