Thinking about running for office?

King County Elections will host three virtual workshops for candidates about how to run for office.

The sessions are Tuesday, April 11, 6 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, April 15, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Monday, April 24, 3 to 5 p.m.

Information covered will include how to file for office, key deadlines, submitting the local voters’ pamphlet statement, voter lists and much more. The state Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) will go over basic campaign disclosure requirements.

Candidate filing week, for the Aug. 1 primary and Nov. 7 general election, is from May 15-19, with the deadline to withdraw the following Monday, May 22. With over 320 offices subject to the election, King County Elections anticipates 650-700 candidates will file to run in 2023. Candidates are encouraged to file online.
