Web site to be overhauled soon

The city of Maple Valley’s Web site is going to get a face lift with work slated to begin within the next month.

It’s about time, too, according to city staff who have been working on the project since last summer.

City Clerk Irvalene Moni said, “The Web site has not had a substantial revamp since its inception in 1998.”

Redesign of the city’s online presence has been one of the top goals for Moni’s department since last year.

Last summer the city put out requests for proposals for redesigning the site and received 15 that offered a variety of choices with costs ranging from $10,000 to $274,000.

A committee was formed to review the proposals and submitted a recommendation to the City Council at its Nov. 17 meeting to work with Vision Internet.

According to a memo provided by Moni, “The committee found that Vision Internet offers strong government Web site experience, attractive design, a user-friendly content management system with multi-level approval capability, a comprehensive total delivered package, and an understanding of the city’s goals in improving its Web site.”

Overhauling the Web site would take anywhere from 15 to 26 weeks and the city would pay $70,205 for site hosting, maintenance for a two year period as well as the overhaul of the site.

The Maple Valley City Council gave Interim City Manager Christy Todd the nod to finalize a contract with Vision Internet at its Jan. 12 meeting.
