Voters want these robocalls

King County election officials are using recorded telephone messages in a final attempt to help voters make their ballots count in the general election Nov. 4.

King County election officials are using recorded telephone messages in a final attempt to contact voters whose ballots in the general election Nov. 4 might not be counted.

Of the nearly 5,000 voters in question, either their absentee (mail-in) ballots don’t match their voter registration or or their ballot envelopes weren’t signed.

The voters have already received one phone call and a letter with a postage-paid envelope from the county, asking them to respond quickly so their ballots can be included in the final results of the election.

The latest automated phone calls, which will continue through Friday, urge the voters to respond to the letter by Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. The final tally of votes will be certified Nov. 25.

Sherril Huff, the county elections director, said the mistakes that officials are trying to get corrected are made by hundreds of mail-in voters who get “in a rush” while casting their ballots.
