Tahoma High math team to host 4th annual math competition

Tahoma High School's math team, Mu Alpha Theta, is hosting the 4th annual math competition "Math Is Amazing!" for students in grades 6-9 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 14.

Tahoma High School’s math team, Mu Alpha Theta, is hosting the 4th annual math competition “Math Is Amazing!” for students in grades 6-9 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 14.

The competition is open to students from all school districts.

The student math class divisions range from arithmetic through algebra 2.

The 9 topic tests are arithmetic, geometry, algebra, probability, vocabulary, mental math, ciphering, potpourri, and mystery.

Plaques, certificates, and candy will be some of the awards. The top ten students will answer questions in the fast-paced, countdown round with the prize being a brand new graphing calculator. There will be guessing jars to win with prizes inside as well.

Snacks and pizza will be available to purchase from the student store. T-shirts are available to purchase when pre-registering. Registrations should be mailed by Nov. 22 for the early bird registration which is $10. After Nov. 22, the registration is $15. Students may register at the door the day of the event.
