Better traffic flow coming to I-405 in Renton

Some changes are in store for folks who use the Sunset Way on-ramp to southbound I-405. Beginning Monday, Sept. 16, the ramp meter will start evenly pacing vehicles entering the highway, which will help provide better mainline traffic flow, and improved travel times. Ramp meters use a stop light to break up the flow of merging vehicles to match real-time roadway conditions. As a result, merge-related collisions in the area drop by at least 30 percent.
