At 10:30 p.m. Monday the Washington State Patrol Dispatch Center began receiving 911 calls regarding a crash from two vehicles that had been involved in a road rage incident with shots fired and two subjects wounded.

Troopers arrived to find four occupants from one vehicle that had crashed into the ditch southbound state route 167 at the entrance ramp from 15th NW.  Two of the occupants had been shot several times in the lower extremities and were immediately taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The two rear seat occupants were not injured.

It is unclear at this time exactly what led up to the confrontation but witnesses say the incident occurred several miles back on SR-167 when one vehicle may have cut off the other right before both vehicles began driving aggressively.  At one point witnesses say the occupants displayed “gang signs” right before the shooting started.

The victim vehicle, a 1999 Mazda 626, was struck by gunfire at least 13 times also striking the driver, a 21 year old man from Roy, and the front seat passenger, a 20 year old woman from Tacoma.  Both are in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

Currently the only suspect vehicle information is a dark passenger car with at least 3 occupants, one wearing a red bandana.

Southbound state route 167 was closed from S. 277th to state route 18 for approximately four hours so troopers and a Seattle PD Bomb-Arson tracking dog could search the freeway for evidence.
