Re-elected board member Maya Vengadasalem and newly elected board member Denise Daniels took the oath of office at the Dec. 13 board meeting.
Vengadasalem continues her service to students, families, and staff as the Board President and District Director No.4. Daniels was elected as District Director No. 5 in November 2017 by our community.
In her professional experience, she serves on a number of regional educational committees and has served as the co-chair of the Mayor’s Task Force on Homelessness for the city of Auburn.
She is also a member of the Washington Association of School Administrators. Denise currently serves as the assistant director of equity, outreach, and engagement for the Auburn School District.
In her role there, she supports students by working directly with parents and families, partnering with community organizations and providing professional development and support to teachers and staff. She began her career in education as a behavior interventionist.
Daniels holds a master’s degree in executive leadership and counseling from Liberty University and a bachelor’s degree in business management and human services from the University of Phoenix. She and her husband live in Covington and have seven children, ages 13 to 29.
