Covington officials are hoping for a hospital to be built in the city, and the City Council passed a resolution supporting the idea.
The members passed the resolution unanimously calling on the Washington state Department of Health to issue a Certificate of Need for a hospital in the city.
The only medical institution currently seeking a Certificate of Need for a hospital in Covington is MultiCare.

A new non-profit wildlife center has been formed to provide care for injured, orphaned or diseased wildlife. South Sound Critter Care is an outgrowth of the nonprofit work performed at Sawyer Lake Veterinary Hospital and Renton Veterinary Hospital. The bottom floor of Sawyer Lake Veterinary Hospital will be the primary receiving site, which will focus on care for songbirds and small mammals, including rabbits, squirrels, mink, opossum mountain beavers and some orphaned domestic kittens.

In the March “On Target” newsletter, we discussed some burglary prevention ideas for homeowners. We will continue with the related topic of property crimes in this month’s newsletter. As spring approaches, the nicer weather often prompts individual residents and entire neighborhoods, to take a more relaxed attitude toward general security measures in and around their homes and businesses. For example doors (including garage doors), windows and sheds are regularly left open and/or unlocked – and unattended, for extended periods of time.

You’re more likely to get killed in a traffic accident involving speed in King County than anywhere else in the state.

Work on Covington’s downtown plan revision is in the home stretch, according to Planning Manager Richard Hart.
“The consultant completed their study in September,” Hart said. “We took all of the policy recommendations out of that document and put those into the new downtown plan element of the comprehensive plan.”
That downtown element was one of a handful of changes to the comprehensive plan that were adopted in December.

Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety was dispatched to investigate a possible electrical fire at a residence at 7 a.m. Wednesday, April 7 in the 24200 block of 275th Avenue S.E.
While enroute dispatchers updated the firefighters dark smoke was coming from the attic. Twenty firefighters from Maple Valley Fire and Life Safety, Mountain View Fire and Rescue and King County Fire District 47 responded to the residential fire.
