The census numbers are in and the counting of noses has revealed some interesting trends.
The U. S. Census Bureau released the facts and figures from the 2010 census, and as expected, Maple Valley and Covington experienced considerable growth. Over the last 20 years Black Diamond has seen a significant increase, jumping from 1,422 in 1990, to 3,970 in 2000 and topping out at 4,151 in the 2010 census count.

With the first day of spring about two weeks away, the snow that began Feb. 23 with about four inches accumulating around Black Diamond, Covington, Maple Valley and surrounding area may be the last of the white weather we see until the next snow season.

Shelby Bryant’s senior project is really just the start of a life long mission.

State Sen. Cheryl Pflug and several health care facilities are on a collision course over a freestanding emergency room Senate bill in Olympia.
Pflug, R-Maple Valley, is the prime sponsor of Senate Bill 5515 that would place a two-year moratorium on the construction of freestanding emergency departments. During the moratorium period the legislature would study whether the state should impose regulations on the construction of freestanding emergency rooms.
Legislators from the 47th District, Sen. Joe Fain along with representatives Pat Sullivan and Mark Hargrove, have scheduled two town hall meetings for March 12. The first will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cutter’s Point Coffee, 16739 S.E. 272 (next to Fred Meyer) in Covington. The second will be from 2-4 p.m. at the Auburn School District Board Room, 915 Fourth Street N.E.

What started out as a routine traffic stop led to an on-again, off-again pursuit from Covington to Tukwila Tuesday afternoon and ended in the arrest of a 25-year-old Maple Valley man at Claim Jumper in Southcenter.

Firefighters and King County paramedics were dispatched to a single vehicle accident at 10:15 p.m. in the 26600 block of SE 224th Street. Firefighters arrived to find a vehicle had slid and crashed into a power pole with impact at the driver’s side door.
King County is growing and has a diverse multitude of residents, based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
The census counted 1,931,249 residents in King County, a number that confirms King County’s rapid population growth during the first decade of the 21st century.

After six challenging weeks of designing, building, and programming, the Tahoma Robotics Club has completed our build season. As a FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Team, Tahoma Robotics “Bear Metal” persistently worked through many obstacles, striving to achieve challenging goals in a short period of time.
A woman escaped an early morning fire in the 26600 block of 190 Avenue Souteast after her smoke alarm woke her, allowing her to escape without harm. The fire was reported at 2:25 a.m. in the Timberlane area of Covington.
