Maple Valley has taken center stage on reality TV with a contestant from the area.

A dental assistant named Mackenzie, 21, is a contestant on the popular ABC show “The Bachelor.” Mackenzie, identified as Mackenzie Deonigi on her Twitter page and Instagram, is a 21-year-old single mother whose son Kale made an appearance in a video on the show.

Cathy Rehl, media relations for ABC, said Maple Valley is Mackenzie’s hometown and where she currently resides, but that Mackenzie, her friends and family are not allowed to do interviews while Mackenzie is on the show.

The Bachelor, in its 19th season, involves a group of single women who are attempting to win over a single bachelor. The bachelor may or may not propose marriage to his final selection.
