Young Maple Valley musicians were given a big honor when they received a new guitar from the Hendrix family.

Rock ‘N’ More Music Academy, a nonprofit music school based in Maple Valley, was presented a guitar by Janie Hendrix, sister of famous guitarist Jimi Hendrix, on stage at the Paramount Theater on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The presentation was a part of the Experience Hendrix concert through the Guitar Center Foundation, a school press release stated.

Student Ryleigh Weston received the guitar on behalf of Rock ‘N’ More. Janie Hendrix then spoke to the crowd about the importance of music education.

“We, of course, are honored to be the recipient,” the press release stated.
