Maple Valley Food Bank and Emergency Services is now collecting new school supplies. Flyers and collection barrels are out in the community. You can brighten a child’s back-to-school experience by simply picking up a flyer, purchasing supplies and returning them to a collection site by Aug. 22.
Over a dozen local businesses are hosting collection sites including the Maple Valley and Covington King County library branches and Covington and Maple Valley Starbucks. “Backpack Bucks” are available at Surfrider Coffee Company in Covington and El Caporal Mexican Restaurant in Maple Valley. All donations directly support the purchase of new supplies and backpacks.
The food bank is dedicated to providing quality backpacks with a bounty of new supplies for K-12 students in Covington, Hobart, Ravensdale, Maple Valley and within the boundaries of the Tahoma School District. Over 600 requests for filled backpacks are expected.
Monetary donations are always welcome, supporting the purchase of wholesale items. Checks can be mailed to MVFB&ES (note school supplies in memo), PO Box 322, Maple Valley, WA 98038.
