It was a rough night on Oct. 9 for a 35-year-old Maple Valley man who was severely beat up after walking home from a local bar.

According to Sgt. John Urquhart, spokesman for the King County Sheriff’s Office, the man was walking home from Four Corners Bar and Grill after “he’d had a few beers.”

The man decided to take a trail that runs along Lake Wilderness Park and “after getting 150 yards into the trail, he was attacked by four suspects,” Urquhart said.

“He was stabbed by something, he doesn’t know what it was,” Urquhart said. “He got home, he took a shower, he went to bed. He woke up and saw that he was bleeding.”

But, he waited another day, Urquhart explained, before seeking medical treatment at an urgent care clinic in Covington.

“They treated him and took him over to Precinct No. 3 for a report,” Urquhart said.

The man was stabbed 17 times in the back, possibly with a broken beer bottle, suffered a broken nose and a concussion.

At this time it is unknown who attacked the man.

“It’s an open case,” Urquhart said. “We certainly would want any witnesses to come forward if they have any information.”
