Large cache of stolen goods found in Covington

The Maple Valley and Covington police departments will be providing an opportunity for individuals to retrieve stolen items recovered from a Timberlane home as a result of a search warrant

On March 13, Maple Valley, Covington and King County Sheriff’s Office detectives investigating drugs and stolen property were led to a house in the Timberlane area.

Just before 6 a.m. Friday, the King County Sheriff’s Office Tac 30 Unit entered the home.

A large number of stolen good were found inside the home.

Two people were arrested for investigation of narcotics during the search.

The Maple Valley and Covington police departments will be providing an opportunity for individuals to retrieve stolen items recovered from a Timberlane home as a result of a search warrant.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 26 at Precinct No. 3, 22300 SE 231st St., Maple Valley.

The requirement for viewing and recovering stolen items is the person lived in the greater Covington, Maple Valley or Black Diamond area and reported a theft of property to law enforcement between Oct. 1, 2014 and March 13, 2015.

To recover the item or items the person must bring their incident number from the law enforcement agency the crime was reported to and a detailed description of the stolen property like make, model and a serial number, engraving or unique identifying marks.Investigators began the process of returning items to their rightful owners.

One of the found items was a Japanese katana sword from WWII.

The sword was brought home after the war by a Marine.

A fellow Marine now working with the Covington Police Department recognized the sword and returned it the Marine’s family.

The sword had been stolen from the Marine’s grandson’s house in January.
